School holidays may look a little different this year, you probably don’t have any trips to Disneyland or weekend ski trips planned! With your kids at home, this is a great chance to get some quality family time and get them away from their screens! Try these 5 winter break activities to enrich your little one’s mind and body!

5 Winter break activities to try at home:

  1. Have a craft day
  2. Cook dinner together
  3. Have family movie night
  4. Camp indoors
  5. Redecorate the bedroom

1. Have a craft day

If you’re working from home while your little one needs to be entertained, an art project might be just the thing! Give the kids a fun holiday art project, like painting, making cards, or making clay figurines. Use what they make as a sweet gift for grandma and grandpa, or new decorations for your fridge!

2. Cook dinner together

Take this time at home to teach the kids some life skills, like cooking! Get the little ones involved with safer tasks like prepping veggies or kneading dough, while the older kids can help with chopping and stirring. Make it an event by letting every family member choose one course of the meal. You can even take this opportunity to get the picky eaters of the family to try new foods!

3. Have family movie night

You might be trying to keep the little ones away from their screens as far as possible, but watching a movie with them is a great bonding opportunity! Take this chance to share your favorite movies from when you were their age, or let them school you on the latest blockbuster. Either way, it’s sure to be great fun for the whole family!

4. Camp indoors

If you were hoping to take the kids on a trip this year and can’t anymore, why not set up camp in the house? Use your backyard or garage and set up a tent. Staying in an apartment? Hand your little ones some blankets and pillows and have them build a fort! Create a “starry night” with some fairy lights and watch them spend hours playing games and hanging out inside!

5. Redecorate the bedroom

This one’s an activity that doubles up as a declutter for Mom! Take the extra time that your kids have and help them change their sheets and wall decor to something that feels a little more “them”. Sneak in a closet and toys purge while you’re at it, and it’ll be a great use of time for both you and the little ones!
